Reflecting back on the classic beauty prints of the previous era, Toshikata created a series of 36 prints illustrating the daily activities of women from various time periods and walks of life. A geisha practicing the shamisen, a beauty in her private quarters, an entertainer crossing the river on a ferry - these charming scenes wonderfully capture life in Japan across the ages.
