Triptych: Passtimes for Noble Bijin: Festival Time Artist: Chikanobu Format: Oban triptych: 14" x 27.5" overall Subject: Against a yellow background two elegant bijin and a young boy in a General's helmet look admiringly at a model of Shoki the Demon Queller despatching a red-skinned devil. Other bijin writing poems, arranging Ikebana and holding festival models. Date: c. 1880's Condition: Slightly trimmed. Album backing paper. Left and centre sheet united. Vertical crease mark. Some light offsetting and soils. Minor creases, marks and flaws. Generally very good state. Colour: Fine colors. Impression: Fine impressions with gauffrage and burnishing.
