Description :

A karako is a Chinese child who is usually depicted with a partly shaven head. This image is also found painted on ceramic wares. In Japan, there is a saying, “Children are treasures.” The designs of healthy children, probably imported from China, are thought to be auspicious symbols of prosperity, both within the familial structure as well as for the nation.
