Dated August 1997. Medium/Technique Painting. Colors Excellent … This art work was painted by hand with water and acrylic colors and Chinese ink on a thick but pliable Chinese paper. Condition Very good … Creases on margins. Two cracks (ca. 3.5 cm = 1.57 inch and 1.5 cm = 0.6 inch) in the area of the blue sky on top of image. Description Tibetan subject paintings and prints are Yang Yongsheng's favorite. This painting was created after the artist's traveling to the Tibetan area of China in 1995. This is a scene from the famous Labrang Monastery located in the south of Gansu province. The artist described four Lamas (the monks of Tibetan Buddhism) are walking in the alley of the Labrang Monastery. In the distance you see the shadow of another Lama. Yang Yongshen uses a realistic style to express the mysterious feeling of Tibetan Buddhism. Note Mounted on a backing paper. Decorative borders were added in Chinese traditional manner.
