Description :
Koitsu-Kashiwara Shrine- 1.jpg is: This print is by one of the best of the shin hanga artists, Tsuchiya Koitsu. The image represents the ancient Kashiwara Shrine in Nara, said to have been first established 2600 years ago. The print captures the hallowed, somewhat forbidden atmosphere of the Japanese shrine, the main gate and offering box seen beyond pines, the main shrine in the back behind the woodden fence. The mountains in the background are a shade of purple. The print measures 10 1/4 x 15 1/4 inches and dates to the early-mid twentieth century. This is a genuine original woodblock print.
