Description :

Sunday, 14 September 2008 This is a gorgeous original Japanese scroll painting of a beautiful woman, maybe a Geisha girl, walking in the spring snow. She is holding a Japanese umbrella and snow is already piling up on its top, also on the green grass along the road as well. Behind her, there is a peach tree bearing pink color buds in snow waiting for the time of full bloom. Please enjoy the fabulous color and detail beauty of the painting. I guess this painting was made in early Showa era, around 1930 ? 1940. There is a seal of the artist at the lower right corner, which reads in two characters, “Suizan”. I am not sure of the full name of this artist, but Suizan Miki is well known for his excellent skills in painting beautiful women, or Bijin-ga. So, I guess, it must be Suizan Miki, who lived in Meiji, Taisho and Showa era, studied under Seihou Takeuchi, a giant of Japanese art. Whoever the artist maybe, this painting itself is powerfully telling that this artist is really great. Measurement: Painting itself, 41cm x 106cm, Overall 54cm x 144cm. The mat shows its age and some dirt on the back and there is a slight stain at upper left corner, but the picture is sparkling clean in great shape with no dirt at all.
