Saturday, 16 June 2007 Shin Hanga: Paris Street Scene Artist: Gihachiro Okuyama Format: Oban tate-e: 15.25" x 10.25" approx Subject: A delightful portrayal of a 1940's Paris street scene with a real period feel, signed in pencil by the artist at base. Early in his career, Okuyama designed commercial posters and labels, working with Azechi Umetaro. He established his own publishing firm in Japan, in 1946, called The Japan Print Institute, producing Hiroshige reproductions, as well as other printed products. He produced over 1000 Japanese prints in his lifetime. Publisher: Self-printed by the artist Date: 1940 Condition: Full size. Minor marks and flaws. Generally good state.
