Title Festive Wine - Poem 18 first edition Artist Haku Maki 1924-2000 Signature Signed "Haku Maki" in pencil on the lower margin. Seal Artist's seal. Dated 1969. Medium/Technique Mixed media. Edition of 50 Description Number 18 of the "Festive Wine" series. One of 50 original copies of the series. Ancient Japanese Poems from the Kinkafu," translated by Noah Brannen and William Elliott. An additional 150 copies were printed for the book. The blocks were destroyed after the printing of the 200 copies of the print. Haku Maki was a grand old master of modern Japanese printmaking. He introduced many innovative design elements such as deeply textured embossing or distorted Chinese characters. The artist's reputation is international.
