Description :

KOTOZUKA Eiichi (b. 1906). Street scene at night; oban tata-e (15?" x 10?"). Illegibly titled with "Koto" seal and Uchida han (publisher) seal in LR; publisher's mark LL margin. KOTOZUKA Eiichi "B. 1906 in Osaka. Grad. 1930 Kyoto Specialist School of Painting. Exhibited prints with Shun'yokai from 1932, Teiten from 1934. Member of Nihon Hanga Kyokai from 1938. Exhibited Japanese-style painting with Seiryusha from 1931; member from 1950. Series of Kyoto scenes, including Eight Snow Scenes of Kyoto published by Uchida, and a series of flower prints made with Tokuriki Tomikichiro and Kamei Tobei published by Unsodo. Associated with these two artists in Korokusha, a subsidiary of Tokuriki's publishing company which subsidized their sosaku-hanga." --'Guide to Modern Japanese Prints: 1900-1975' by H. Merritt and N.
