Description :
Sunday, 12 August 2007 We are very pleased to be able to offer this highly unusual print by Kiyokata Kaburagi (1878 - 1973). “Usuyki “(Light Snow), typically this is only found as a “kuchi-e” woodblock print with two folds as it is originally inside the front of a literary magazine. Here we have print that was originally dated Meiji 15 nen (1882), showing the custom and manners of ladies of this period. Signed “Kiyokata” with artist seal. This is a very special machine print by Soudosha Publishers from a limited edition series of only 980 sheets and published on October 1, 1977. The paper measures 9 and ? inches by 14 and 1/2 inches; slightly larger than a “kuchi-e” Still tipped to original presentation folder. Flawless, bright colors with fill margins. Wonderful little print. One of Kiyokata’s more desirable works. Interesting wood grain representation in blue of kimono and background above head easily seen.
