Saturday, 17 September 2005 Title Seiobo - Queen of the West kuchi-e Artist Keishu Takeuchi 1861-1942 Seal artist's seal (keishu) Dated 1907 Technique/Medium Woodblock print Impression very good Colors good … silver colored metallic pigment oxidized Condition good … lightly soiled, light metallic transfer stains on the face, some red ink specks, horizontal folds usual for kuchi-e, album backing partially removed. Description "Sei-o-bo" (Si Wang Mu in Chinese. Queen of the West) The Taoist deity who lives in Konron (Kuen Lun) mountains. She cares for the mythical peach tree which bears fruits every three thousand years. Eating this peach bestows immortality. According to the legend, Tobosaku stole and ate the peach and made himself "sennin". Width 8.5 inches = 21.5 cm Height 11.2 inches = 28.5 cm
