Description :
Japan Countryside / Original Takeuchi KEISHU, 1861-1942, was a student of Tsukioka YOSHITOSHI, the famed Meiji ukiyo-e artist. Typical of the late 19th century, he was an illustrator for novels and magazines. He is widely known for his woodblock prints and watercolor paintings. I acquired this painting from an estate in Japan. The face and the verso are UNMARKED. Nicely executed, the colors are STRONG. The sky is realistic and the overall painting is WELL BALANCED. The size is 25.4 x 33.7 cm or 10 x 13 1/4 inches.
