Description :
HASUI -- "Kiso River, at Inuyama" 1931 A striking sailboat/castle image by Bijutsusha Publisher. Rare--only one of only 8 Hasui designs published pre-War by Bijutsusha Publisher. (Narazaki #B-07). Size if full "oban," with image itself measuring 9 3/8 x 14 1/4. Condition is excellent, with only very light toning and ver light wear. Clean backside, with tiny Dealer's sticker in Japanese. Very fine impression with uperbly executed "bokashi" shading to sky, castle, hillside, boat, and water areas; light "gauffrage" to sailboat's sail and rocky foreground; and highly detailed carving. As experienced collectors of Japanese prints will immediately recognize, this is a PRE-War impression and is therefore quite rare.
