Tuesday, 13 September 2005 Shin Hanga: Bust Portrait: Pensive Girl Artist: Tomoyo Jimbo Format: Dai-oban tate-e: 16.75" x 11.25" Subject: A rare Shin Hanga bijin study by the contemporary of Shinsui, Tomoyo Jimbo who was a female artist known by only 4 designs. This fine example shows a young bijin with open umbrella walking beneath Japanese Maples (Acer palmatum). Numbered on verso 15 from the limited edition of 100 copies. Date: c. 1930 Condition: Full size with margins. A small rubbed area on the index finger of left hand. Two small thinned areas on verso in top margin from a previous matting. Minor soils, marks and flaws. Generally very good state. Colour: Fine Impression: Fine with extensive gauffrage
