Friday, 7 December 2007 Artist IKEDA, Terukata (1883-1921) Title "Beauty Under a Curtain" ("Noren-jin") Date ca1920 (Later limited edition of 100 prints, c1980's.) Series na Publisher Ishukankokai Publisher Seal, Carver/Printer Itoh Susumu/Watanabe Yoshiaki; watermarked. Image Size 10 3/4 x 15 1/2 (plus wide margins) Impression Very Fine. Skillfully executed "bokashi" (gradation of colors) shading to face, curtain, and kimono; light silver "mica" pigments to kimono pattern; highly detailed carving. Condition Excellent. Excellent colors. (No flaws noted--still in original "presentation folder.") Reference/Illus Similar image in "The Female Image." Comments One of the very few "bijin-ga" images of this seldom encountered artist, a student of Toshikata. "Re-strike" edition published as a small, immediately sold out edition (100 copies) in the mid-1980's by Ishukankokai Publisher of Tokyo (with red "moneybag" seal). Item # DG-393
