Tokaido Series by the Twin Brushes Artist: Hiroshige I & Kunisada Format: Oban tate-e: 14" x 9.5" Subject: In the foreground an actor threatens another actor who lifts his kimono to hide with a gun. In the background birds flying over stormy waves in the evening. Publisher: Maru-ya Kyushiro Date: c. 1850 Condition: Fine colors. Slightly trimmed. Album backing paper. Horizontal centrefold with small paper losses at edges. Slightly soiled and toned. Minor stains, marks and flaws. Generally quite good state of preservation. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage. Strong woodgrain visible in the background.
