Description :
The traditional technique of palace doll making continues even today. For example, Itö Hisashige became the first and only appointed palace doll maker in 1767. Since then, the technique has not changed, and neither has the artistic name: the 12th generation of Itö Hisashige is currently active! Doll makers are devoted to tradition, yet they also try to keep up with modern tastes. (from “Doll! Doll! Doll! / Kawase Hasui” exhibition. 2/14/2003-)
