Description :

This print, with minimal color and a mica background, was never issued in Goyö's lifetime, nor are there any pre-WWII editions of it. At the time of Goyö 's death the keyblock had been cut but no color blocks had been created. Therefore, it is not known what color scheme Goyö intended for the print or, for example, what patterns he may have intended for the kimonos. This design and seven others were part of a posthumously issued limited edition folio, authorized by Goyö’s family in the 1950s, and limited to 150 prints. - “Prelude to the print” curated by Wendy Bennett 11/7/2007 - 1/20/2008
