Description :
Colour woodblock print, oban diptych. The kabuki actors Bando Mitsugoro III (left sheet) as Gofukuya Jubei and Ichikawa Omezo I (right sheet) as Shimakawa Tahei, standing with two swords and holding an umbrella in one hand and a lantern in the other; in the play 'Hatsu momiji niki no adauchi' (alternative title 'Hatsu momiji futaki no adauchi'), by Nagawa Shimesuke I performed at the Nakamura-za in the 7th month of 1806.
