Description :
This triptych depicting women with their attendants picking grapes is an example of benizuri-e, an early type of ukiyo-e print style consisting of predominantly pink beni pigments and one or two other colors (typically green and yellow). At the time this print was produced, nishiki-e, or multi-colored woodblock printing, was in use and greatly favored, so it can be assumed that Shunsen chose to limit his palate as an intentional aesthetic choice rather than due to a lack of available materials.
