Description :
For his capture of the Hojo capital Kamakura, the Emperor Go-Daigo rewarded Yoshisada with the title Sa-chujo, the governorship of Echigo province and the vice-governorships of Harima and Kozuke. Yoshisada was the emperor's favorite, but a mediocre general. At the Battle of Minato River in 1336-initiated against his rival Ashikaga Takauji-he panicked and retreated, leaving Kusunoki Masashige's troops unprotected against an overwhelming assault. Go-Daigo fled to Mount Hiei, then to Mount Yoshino, to establish a rival court while Takauji entered Kyoto in triumph
