Description :
Begun in the 9th century, the Gion Matsuri is one of Japan’s most important festivals. The event reaches its peak when elaborate, mountain-sized floats depicting feudal history are drawn through the streets of Kyoto by teams of ten to twenty people. The festival runs from July 17th to 24th.
