Description :

This is a woodblock print illustration from Utagawa Yoshitora's erotic classic Kaichu Nenchu Gyoshi (Record of Erotic Play Throughout the Year) published in 1846. The setting is 'Autumn Moon Viewing,' one of the key celebrations in Japan. Notice the feast of sashimi and pickles that has been prepared. The lady is trying to enjoy the brilliance of the full moon but the man is far more intent on untying her kimono.
