Description :

This scene is from a play entitled, The Cherry Princess. The princess is so beautiful that the monk Seigen from the Kiyomizu temple falls desperately in love with her. When he is rejected, he becomes insane and walks around with a kimono embroidered with cherry blossoms, calling out her name. He is excommunicated from the temple and eventually starves to death. Framed with acid-free and ultraviolet filtering materials.
