Description :
The Musashi Plain around Tokyo in rural times was thought to be haunted by magic foxes. Various artists have depicted the scene under under a full moon. In this fine Meiji print, signed with a possible pseudonym of Kobayashi Kiyochika, the artist uses wonderful blue colors to evoke moonlight and the grain of the woodblock on the shaded bokashi background to add texture.
