Description :
Carver Maeda, Seal Double Gourd. The model Tocho was a well-known cabaret performer who befriended the artist at an early age and taught him many of the songs he enjoyed singing until the end of his life. The comparative crudeness of the drawing was partially compensated for by the exquisite coloring and remarkable gauffrage embossing of the beige robe. This print exists in only a few examples.
