Print shows a confrontation at the rear gate outside the shogun's palace between Sagisaka Bannai and two other men, who are Moronō's retainers, and Kampei, who is fleeing with his lover Okaru. Scene from act three of the play Chūshingura or revenge of the 47 Rōnin.
