Woodblock triptych print, oban tate-e. A scene from the kabuki play 'Onna Seigen', showing the actors Bando Hikosaburo as Sarushima Soda (right), carrying a pole with a net and stepping from the dock onto the ferry, Iwai Kunesaburo as the female priest Onna Seigen (centre) raising her straw hat, and Ichikawa Danjuro VIII Yoshida Matsuwaka-maru (left) beginning to pole the boat across the Sumida River.
