Description :

Colour woodblock print, two sheets of an oban polyptych from an album of 117 sheets. The kabuki actors Onoe Matsusuke II as Utanosuke, standing with a drawn sword beneath votive paintings (ema), and Sawamura Tanosuke II as Koshimoto Saeda climbing down bamboo scaffolding with an 'ema' under her arm, in the play 'Jujo Genji Monogusa Taro' by Asada Itcho; performed at the Nakamura-za in the 5th month of 1813.
