Description :
Colour woodblock print, one sheet from an oban polyptych. The kabuki actor Ichikawa Danjuro VII as Sukeroku, holding out a tray of soba noodles that he has just bought from the soba seller Fukuyama, in the play ‘Sukeroku yukari no Edo zakura’ (助六所縁江戸桜), one of the ‘Kabuki Juhachiban’; performed at the Tamagawa-za in the 3rd month of 1819 (Bunsei 2).
