From the series "Dai Nihon Shi Ryaku Zue" ("Picture of Abbreviated Japanese History"). No. 96. The group of Mito samurai group assassinated Ii Naosuke, the high ranking officer in Tokugawa Shogunate, who was the main advocate of the opening of Japan to the rest of the world. The story in Japanese on the backside of the print.
