"Morning Snow on Bamboo - B". Lilian Miller studied Japanese painting under Shimada Bokusen. She was one of the handful non-Japanese painters who was honored by Imperial Salon (Teiten) of the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts. She won an award of Special Merit (Tokusenjo), as one of five artists so honored in a competition of 500 participants in 1920.
