Description :

The image documents the traditional practice of Japanese householders to throw soya-beans at imaginary devils on "Setsubun" (The parting of the seasonal spring festival on February 3rd). The bean throwers shout out aloud chanting "In with the fortune, out with the devil!". The on-lookers pick up the thrown beans along with other tokens for the good-luck.
